Injury Update

CricketDerbyshireThis page will give Derbyshire Members and supporters the latest news about player injuries, as well as an update on their recovery and when they are expected to return to action.

Tom Poynton

Poynton has been ruled out for the 2014 season due to injury. His rehabilitation has been progressing well and he is on track to enjoy a full pre-season ahead of the 2015 campaign.

Tom Poynton said: "My leg is going very well. I'm progressing well in terms of my rehab; I've had no set-backs along the way and hopefully I'll be fully fit by November.

"The aim is to have a full pre-season. The guys are back in for pre-season on November 4, so if I can be fully functional by that time to participate in all the activities then that would be brilliant."

Tom Taylor

Taylor sustained an ankle injury in the Royal London One-Day Cup fixture versus Lancashire at the start of August. He continues to progress well and is expected to be back in full training ahead of the Glamorgan four-day fixture, with a view to be in contention for a place in the squad to face Surrey, starting on Tuesday 15 September.

Graeme Welch said: "Tom is a young lad who has recovered well from the injury sustained. He is now moving freely and taking part in light training while being monitored by the medical team.

"We expect to see Tom back bowling ahead of the match against Glamorgan, but I think the trip to Cardiff will be too soon for him. We hope, however, that he will be in contention for a spot in the squad to travel to the Kia Oval later this month."

Jonathan Clare

After a long spell on the sidelines, Jonathan Clare is continuing to work with medical staff and the Strength & Conditioning Coach. He featured in the Second XI One-Day Trophy match versus Warwickshire in early August and his fitness is being reviewed.
