Second XI One-Day Trophy - Derbyshire v Glamorgan, July 29th 2013; The County Ground
Derbyshire Second XI suffered defeat in a rain-affected one-day Trophy fixture against Glamorgan at the County Ground.
Losing the toss and asked to bat first, Derbyshire posted 174-5 from 35 overs in a rain-shortened innings. Jonathan Clare - who got the opportunity to bat at the top of the order - hit seven fours in his knock of 41, while opening partner Billy Godleman carried his bat to top score with an unbeaten 75, which included five fours and a six.
Paul Borrington chipped in with 25 and Ben Slater added 16, as the hosts posted a competitive total despite the rain interruptions, as Glamorgan were set a revised total of 195 to win in 35 overs according to Duckworth/Lewis.
And, with rain in the air, the visitors made a quick start with Lancefield (53 not out) and Walters (22) sharing a 73-run opening stand. More rain forced another delay, resulting in Glamorgan now requiring 114 runs in 20 overs to win. But Glamorgan duly reached their victory target with eight balls to spare, thanks to the explosive hitting of Lancefield and an unbeaten 34 from Lloyd, as the visitors sealed a nine-wicket win by D/L.
