Queen's Park, Chesterfield

Chesterfield Festival of Cricket 2014; in association with Chesterfield Borough Council

ChesterfieldDerbyshire County Cricket Club is bringing first-class cricket back to Chesterfield in 2014, as Queen’s Park plays host to the Old Speckled Hen Chesterfield Festival of Cricket for the eighth successive summer.

At the height of the English summer in July, the county’s picturesque northern outpost will host six-days of county cricket as part of the week-long cricket festival, in association with Chesterfield Borough Council, starting Sunday 6th July.

Derbyshire will compete in two NatWest T20 Blast fixtures – including the traditional local derby with Yorkshire Vikings on Sunday 13th July – and a four-day clash with LV= County Championship Division Two rivals Essex.

On the opening day, Sunday 6th July, supporters can enjoy explosive T20 action as Derbyshire Falcons entertain Leicestershire Foxes.

Wayne Madsen’s side are back in action the following day as the race for LV= County Championship promotion continues against Essex, commencing Monday 7th July.

The festival concludes on Sunday 13th July with its highlight fixture as the Yorkshire Vikings once again make the short trip to Chesterfield for an eagerly-anticipated NatWest T20 Blast match against the Falcons.

Over 4,000 supporters saw Yorkshire narrowly came out on top in last year’s thrilling fixture and the Falcons will be looking to put the record straight this summer.
