Wayne Madsen has been pleased with his and the teams start in the Royal London One-Day Cup and hopes their good start can continue versus Lancashire at The 3aaa County Ground next Thursday (7 August); 2pm start.
Derbyshire have begun the rebranded tournament in ideal fashion, having convincingly defeated both Hampshire and Leicestershire, by 136 runs and seven wickets respectively, in their opening two fixtures, before rain forced no result in the clash versus Worcestershire.
Captain Madsen has played a leading role in their early-competition success, hitting his maiden List A century in the opening match versus Hampshire, before backing it with a second the next day against Leicestershire.
"I feel great – not necessarily because of the hundreds but because we have played well," said Madsen.
"We have got ourselves into the habit of winning by taking the momentum we had from the last two Championship games and carrying it into the new competition.
"We set this up in Abu Dhabi in the pre-season – how we wanted to go about batting and bowling – and spoke about them again this week and have carried out our plans both times. It's extremely rewarding to do that.
"We have done brilliantly as a team. Everybody is contributing."
Madsen added: "We knew we had to start like this if we wanted a chance and it's great that we have been able to do it.
"It puts us in a position now where we can look at going further in this competition but, from a team point of view, our eyes have just got to be focused on this next game against Lancashire at home.
"I don't even look at tables until the back end because there is no point in doing that. All we can do is win the next game coming up and reassess after that.
“Lancashire are a good side, but hopefully the support of a good home crowd can help us extend our good start.”
Tickets will be available on the gate; however, the best value can be gained by purchasing tickets in advance of the day of the game.
