Nick Kesingland, who previously worked at fellow first-class county Essex, has been appointed as the Club’s new analyst and will join Welch's coaching set-up in time to prepare for the new LV= County Championship season.
As well as holding a Masters degree in Sport Performance Analysis from Cardiff Metropolitan University, Kesingland is a fully qualified ECB Level 2 Coach and will be working closely with the rest of the elite coaching team, analysing the squad’s performance while also studying opposing teams via video analysis and statistics.
Elite Performance Director Welch says Kesingland will be a valuable support to the coaches and will help get the most out of Derbyshire’s cricketers.
“Nick's appointment as analyst is the last piece of the jigsaw,” he said.
“When I came in, I wanted to give the lads everything they needed; physically, tactically, mentally and analytically.
“An analyst will complement nicely the work of all the coaches and will allow us to raise the bar in terms of preparation.
“Nick will be doing a lot of work analysing opposing teams, looking at averages at certain grounds and helping us to build specific plans for our opponents.
“He will be putting presentations together to help give our lads a better understanding of the way they play, their strengths and their areas to improve.
“It will give the lads extra information on their games and opponents, giving us that extra advantage.
“We are all striving to win trophies, not only this season but for many years to come. With all the tools we have in place that is a realistic ambition.”
