Tom Knight’s unbeaten 99 off just 55 balls helped Derbyshire Second XI claim victory in a Twenty20 contest against Durham at Brandon Cricket Club.
Knight's knock helped Derbyshire claim victory in the day's second T20 after Durham, led by England international Ben Stokes, had won the first game.
In Game One, Durham claimed a 21-run win thanks to the all-round performance from Stokes. Making his return from injury, Stokes hit 47 off just 23 balls before returning figures of 4 for 23 off his four overs.
David Wainwright (3 for 17 of four overs) claimed three wickets to restrict Durham to 166-7, but despite 33 from Tom Wood, Derbyshire closed their 20 overs on 145-5.
Game Two, however, belonged to Knight as his display of power hitting helped Derbyshire claim a seven-wicket win.
Batting first, Durham posted 205-6 off their 20 overs with Rammy Singh top-scoring with 75 off 43 balls, including seven fours and four sixes, while Stokes added 35 off 18 balls.
In reply, Knight, who was opening the innings, carried his bat to top score with a superb 99 off 55 balls - including seven fours and seven sixes. Trialist Pete Drysdale added 57 off 31 balls before Greg Cork (15 not out) completed victory with a six with seven balls to spare.
