The Cricket Derbyshire Foundation is offering teenagers in Derby a chance to participate in fun cricket activities, free of charge, during the school holidays as part of their Connecting Communities Project.
The foundation, in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner of Derbyshire, is giving boys and girls in the city an opportunity to get active and participate in fun and easy to play cricket activities.
Starting on Monday 4th August, the sessions - held at Normanton Park and Arboretum Park - are free and will run during the six-week school holidays, giving youngsters aged 14 to 19 a chance to receive coaching from qualified cricket coaches.
No advanced booking is required; participants can simply turn up and opt to take part on the day.
Cricket Derbyshire Director of Partnerships, Ryan Duckett said: “This project will seek to use the power of sport to engage with local communities in Derby.
“These sessions are running through the six week summer holidays and will encourage young people to partake in positive lifestyle activities.
“Sessions, delivered by Cricket Derbyshire Community Coaches and young leaders from Derby City, will include fun and easy to play versions of cricket such as Kwik Cricket, Street Cricket and Last Man Stands.
“We are very grateful for the support received from the Police and Crime Commissioner of Derbyshire which has made this project possible. We hope lots of young people come along and get involved.”
Participants will also get the opportunity to visit The 3aaa County Ground during the summer to watch a first-class match and meet Derbyshire first team players.
