Houghton looking forward to new season

Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, says the Derbyshire squad are in good condition and raring to go, after the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy fixtures were confirmed.

Houghton’s side will begin their campaign at Trent Bridge on Saturday 1 August, where they face East Midlands Rivals Nottinghamshire, before testing clashes with Leicestershire, Yorkshire, Durham and Lancashire.

Houghton has been encouraged by the quality that the Derbyshire have shown since they returned to training at Repton School, and he is looking forward to seeing the players in action once again.

“It’s been such a long time since we’ve played, but we’ve trained really hard and the guys are desperate to play,” Houghton said.

“We’ve been ready for a while now, so to have the fixtures formalised puts the finish line on the cards for us. The guys are really excited about it, and to play Nottinghamshire first game is just fantastic.”
