Sam Conners, Luis Reece and Ben Aitchison all made their mark before lunch. while Reece added to his own tally later in the day, and with Matt Critchley taking big wickets either side of tea.

Alex Lees (84) passed 50 for the fourth time in six Bob Willis Trophy innings, but it was Paul Coughlin (42 not out) and Ned Eckersley (22 not out) who ended the day at the crease, with Durham 219-6.
