Melton’s career-best figures of 4-22. coupled with a further three wickets from Reece, helped the visitors to dismiss their opponents for a total of 199, with only Harry Dearden (70) passing 50.
Reece himself reached a half-century before the close of play, and will return with Wayne Madsen (37 not out) on Day Two, with Derbyshire 101-1, trailing by 98.
