The opener was ably supported by half-centuries from Wayne Madsen (52) and BillyGodleman (51) as Derbyshire secured four batting points after Durham declared on 337-9.

Derbyshire ended the day 355-4, with Matt Critchley not out on 46 and Fynn Hudson-Prentice unbeaten on 26.
