Player in Focus: Yorkshire Vikings

Ahead of Derbyshire’s Vitality Blast fixture against Yorkshire Vikings, we take a look at one of the opposition’s key men.

The Falcons have enjoyed their recent Vitality Blast encounters against Yorkshire, winning their last six meetings.

Most notably, Matt Critchley hitting the winning runs in the final over at Queen’s Park in 2018, while Billy Godleman saw the Falcons home in Chesterfield to start the 2019 campaign with a win.

Yorkshire born, Adam Lyth, opens the batting for the Vikings and has scored 2626 runs at an average of 25.74 and a career strike rate of 142.71, proving he has the ability to get Yorkshire off to a flyer. Lyth’s wicket will be key if Derbyshire are to continue their fine form against their local rivals.

The powerful batsman scored 379 runs in last season’s competition, at an average of 37.90 and a strike rate of 155.96.
