The Falcons face last year’s North Group toppers Lancashire hoping to replicate their 11-run success in 2019. Derbyshire will have to be wary of the Lightning’s main threats, spinner Matt Parkinson and the powerful Keaton Jennings.
Parkinson has only been involved in 38 T20s in his short career but has already taken 65 wickets, with best figures of 4-23. Now he has more experience of the competition and its knockout stage the leg spinner will be looking to spin his team to victory. Tight middle overs somewhat restrict teams’ scoring largely thanks to the youngster.
Jennings needs no introduction; he has an abundance of experience in the county circuit. His ability to set up run chases via big hitting or intricate shots, makes him such a prized wicket to claim. A maiden hundred in the first game of the competition, highlights how destructive he can be if allowed to get into his rhythm. His opening-game century against Durham shows the opener is a key man for the Falcons to dislodge at Emerald Headingley.
