Derbyshire County Cricket Club is sad to announce the death of Bert Richardson.
Heritage Officer David Griffin writes;
Bertram Harold Richardson was born in Ashton-under-Lyne in 1932 and after Laurie Johnson died earlier this year became the oldest living Derbyshire cricketer.
Bert played for the county between 1950 and 1953, featuring in 27 first-class matches scoring 279 runs and taking 33 wickets.
A slow left arm bowler, he returned his best match figures of 8-118 against Hampshire in 1950.
A resident of Mansfield, Bert was a regular attendee at the Past Players gatherings held annually at Derby.
Everyone connected with Derbyshire County Cricket Club would like to extend their condolences to Bert’s family and friends.
