Critchley excited for Members’ return

Matt Critchley is looking forward to seeing Members back in The Incora™ County Ground once again, after over a year since their last visit.

With the coronavirus pandemic preventing any supporters from attending cricket fixtures in 2020, Derbyshire Members have not attended a fixture on home soil since the LV= County Championship victory over Sussex in 2019.

While this season will begin with no supporters, the government’s roadmap out of lockdown indicates that Derbyshire Members will be able to return to sporting events from Monday 17 May, with the first-class fixture against Durham, starting on Thursday 20 May, designated as a Member exclusive.

Having experienced various empty grounds last year, Critchley is relishing the return of some familiar faces to Derby and Queen’s Park, and the all-rounder hopes the side can put on a show for them.

“We didn’t play in Derbyshire last year, so we haven’t actually experienced our home ground without any supporters in,” he said.

“We can’t wait to see people back in the seats they always take up, and just having the chance to catch up with the Members and get back to enjoying the games with them in the stands.

“We’ve all tried to keep up with them via social media, it’s nice because you can stay in contact and they can send you messages, which is always nice.

“But none of that compares to walking back down to fine leg and getting that ripple from applause from the familiar faces. We can’t wait to see them again, they support us really passionately and we’re really looking forward to performing in front of them again in Derbyshire.”

Together, We Are All Derbyshire. Club Membership for the 2021 season is on sale now, priced at just £199. Members to have priority entry and all Memberships backed by our new guarantees.
