The all-rounder took 5-67 to dismiss the visitors for 305, before hitting a brilliant 84, along with a 129-run partnership with Madsen, whose 66 helped Derbyshire maintain their strong position in the match.
Critchley is the first player in club history to score four half-centuries in the first two matches of the season. Derbyshire lead by 353 heading into a big final day.
