Dave Houghton is excited to see what Derbyshire’s promising bowling attack produce in this season’s LV= County Championship.
The likes of Sam Conners, Ben Aitchison and Michael Cohen made positive impacts in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy, with many of Derbyshire’s young players progressing through match experience.
George Scrimshaw and Academy graduate Nick Potts have been added to the ranks over the summer, while the experienced Luis Reece will again lead the attack in red ball cricket.
Ahead of Derbyshire’s season-opener against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, Houghton has talked up Derbyshire’s bowling depth, and he’s looking forward to seeing how the group develops this campaign.
“We’ve got a couple of new additions, in Nick Potts and George Scrimshaw, so we have a little bit more depth,” he said.
“Luis Reece aside, everyone else is young and inexperienced, but there’s a good amount of excitement around, particularly about the versatility we’ve got within the team.
“It’s quite exciting, because you’re not quite sure what you’re going to get, that’s what was so good last year and we’re hoping the same thing will happen again.”
