Derbyshire Abroad: du Plooy scores half-century in rain-affected draw

Leus du Plooy enjoyed a solid return to action with South Western Districts, scoring 54 in a draw against Tuskers in the CSA Four-Day Franchise Series.

Due to a slew of postponements prior to Christmas, du Plooy and his teammates had not played a competitive fixture since mid November, when the Derbyshire batter scored 91 and 85 in a 120-run victory over Eastern Storm.

The left-hander continued his fine form in South Africa, with his latest half-century, 54 from 130 balls, taking him top of the South Western Districts run-scoring charts, with 230 runs from his three first-class innings.

In all formats, du Plooy has passed 50 four times in six innings for SWD, with three half centuries in red ball cricket and one in his sole T20 appearance, the quarter-final of the CSA Provincial T20 Cup.

His next game begins on Thursday 27 January and is against Limpopo Impalas, the same day that Shan Masood begins his Pakistan Super League campaign with defending champions, Multan Sultans against Karachi Kings.
