As the pre-sale window opens for Vitality Blast tickets, Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, tells supporters to expect entertainment in this season’s competition.
The Falcons, who reached Finals Day in 2019, will be aiming to convert some of their close results from 2021 into victories and a place in the knockout stages, under the guidance of the internationally-renowned Arthur.
The new Head of Cricket has wasted no time in bolstering the squad, with Pakistan’s Shan Masood and Sri Lanka great, Suranga Lakmal, joining for the 2022 campaign, having worked with Arthur at international level.
Luis Reece and Leus du Plooy led the way with the bat for Derbyshire in Twenty20 cricket last season, while Wayne Madsen will be looking to make up for lost time, after missing almost the entire 2021 Vitality Blast through injury.
While Arthur accepts he cannot control what happens on the field, he’s certain that the squad will be well-prepared for any situation.
“Twenty20 is a volatile game game, but we will have our players prepared for those pressure moments,” he said.
“The key to T20 cricket is having players during those moments to stand up with that bat or ball – that comes from the preparation.
“For us as coaches, we have to make sure those players are ready when those situations arise. I’m excited for it, we will be attractive and nice to watch.”
