Madsen, du Plooy and Glenn retained for The Hundred

Wayne Madsen will be a part of the Manchester Originals side for the second season of The Hundred, while Leus du Plooy has been retained by Welsh Fire after an impressive debut campaign.

Derbyshire-born England international, Sarah Glenn, will also remain in the Trent Rockets side, along with Nat Sciver, Katherine Brunt, Kathryn Bryce and Abbey Freeborn.

Madsen missed out on making his Hundred debut last season, after a hamstring injury picked up in Derbyshire’s opening 2021 Vitality Blast fixture against Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford ruled him out for the entire competition.

Left-handed batter, du Plooy, caught the eye while playing for Welsh Fire, scoring 147 runs across six innings, with a high-score of 43. He was initially drafted as a wildcard pick last year, after starring for Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast, which earned him the Club’s Twenty20 Player of the Year award.
