Scrimshaw proud to represent Derbyshire on international stage

George Scrimshaw is excited to represent Derbyshire on the international stage, after earning a call-up to the England Lions squad to face South Africa later this month. 

The tall quick, who has taken 21 Vitality Blast wickets already this season, has been named in the squad which will play two One-Day International fixtures later this month.

Before that, however, Scrimshaw will be looking to add to his tally and help Derbyshire to reach Finals Day, when they face Somerset in this Saturday’s quarter-final at Taunton.

Having impressed for Derbyshire since joining in 2021, Scrimshaw is now looking forward to taking his county form into the international arena, where he will proudly represent the Club.

“For me, playing for Derbyshire, I love it,” Scrimshaw told BBC Radio Derby.

“Having Mickey come in this season, it’s lifted the Club a bit and made us even more recognisable.

“Mickey’s helped that, as has Shan being a great performer, the amount of games we’re winning will only help the Club in the long run. I’m really happy to be playing for Derbyshire.

“I’m very proud to have been selected for the England Lions, I saw a lot of people online happy to have an England Lions player playing for Derbyshire, I think that can only help our reputation as a Club.

“I found out just before the India game, I think any player in county cricket is going to be watched, I’ve had another good season again, taking wickets, but I never expected to get the call.”
