Arthur on Masood call-up

Top-order batter, Shan Masood, has been called-up to the Pakistan squad for their upcoming IT20 series against England, starting next week, as well as the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

As such, the 32-year-old finishes his time with Derbyshire having scored 1,832 runs in all formats, including three centuries and 12 half-centuries.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Shan knows how highly I’ve valued his contributions on and off the field this summer. He’s been a model professional during his time with us and the whole squad have benefitted from having a player of his experience and attitude with us.

“That’s the level of overseas professional we need to be striving for as a Club and we’re beginning to look into options for next year which must enhance our current squad, a group of players which themselves have kicked on this year.

“I look at the likes of Anuj Dal and Brooke Guest and what they’ve achieved this year, plus the Lions call-ups for Sam Conners and George Scrimshaw. Ben Aitchison’s another – the way he’s bowled in spells this season has been among the best in the division. These are just a few examples, but it shows we’re heading in the right direction and quickly. The key for us now is to finish the season strongly and ensure we have a good winter ready for next year.”
