Durham UCCE friendly cancelled

Derbyshire’s pre-season friendly with Durham UCCE has been cancelled on the advice of match officials after adverse weather conditions meant the outfield was too wet to safely stage a game. 

Heavy rain throughout March saw the previous two planned friendlies against Nottinghamshire and Lancashire moved to another venue or cancelled, and the persistent bad weather in recent weeks has limited the work that the groundstaff can do to prepare the outfield.

The game against Durham UCCE was scheduled to begin on Saturday 1 April, but after the two match officials inspected the outfield this afternoon, the decision was been made to cancel the fixture to allow Derbyshire’s groundstaff the best possible opportunity to get the surface ready for the opening LV= County Championship fixture against Worcestershire, starting on Thursday 6 April.
