Derbyshire have agreed a deal to sign experienced batter, David Lloyd, from Glamorgan on a three-year contract, starting at the end of the 2023 season.
An established all-formats batter, with more than 7,000 career runs to his name, Lloyd has scored six first-class centuries, including an unbeaten 313 against Derbyshire in 2022.
Lloyd has captained Glamorgan since 2021, leading the Welsh county to third in LV= County Championship Division Two last season, narrowly missing out on promotion.
While Lloyd has made his biggest impact with the bat, the 31-year-old also offers handy medium pace with the ball, which has garnered 96 first-class wickets and best figures of 4-11.
Lloyd will join Derbyshire on a three-year contract, keeping him at The Incora County Ground until the end of the 2026 season.
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “David is an experienced county cricketer and one who will bring a great level of leadership and ability into our squad.
“He has scored runs consistently throughout his career and gives us a different dimension at the top of the order.
“David’s recruitment was key to our long-term plans and by getting the contract signed early, we’ve got time to continue shaping our squad ahead of next summer.”
Lloyd added: “I have enjoyed my time at Glamorgan and have made so many great memories, but I feel it’s time for a change and the project at Derbyshire is one I’m really excited to be a part of.
“It’s a county with a great coaching setup and a talented group of players, which I’m delighted to be joining.”
