England face the T20 World Champions in Derby!

England Women host New Zealand in an IT20 at The Central Co-op County-Ground on Wednesday 20 May (6.30pm).

The Women’s T20 World Cup holders, led by Amelia Kerr, face an England side aiming to make more history in Derby.

The Hundred Watch: England Women stars shine

A host of England Women stars have made strong starts to The Hundred, ahead of their International T20 against Sri Lanka at Derby next month. 

Openers, Danni Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont, have followed up their impressive Ashes showings with a half-century each for Southern Brave and Welsh Fire respectively, with player maintaining a strike rate above 135.

Batter, Maia Bouchier, is the second-highest run-scorer in the 2023 competition after four innings, scoring 134 runs, including a high-score of 63 not out.

Georgia Adams, daughter of Derbyshire great Chris, is the leading wicket-taker with ten, while the number-one ranked T20I bowler, Sophie Ecclestone, has five wickets after two games, including best figures of 4-11. Derbyshire Women and England spinner, Sarah Glenn, picked up 3-15 on her first Hundred appearance of the season.

Wayne Madsen and George Scrimshaw are yet to feature in the competition, with the former returning to Derbyshire for their Metro Bank One Day Cup fixture against Durham yesterday. Manchester Originals next play on Sunday, with Madsen available for selection against Northern Superchargers at Headingley.

Zak Chappell has played twice for Oval Invicibles, picking up one wicket, while Leus du Plooy has scored 75 runs in three innings for Southern Brave.

England return to The Incora County Ground on Wednesday 6 September to face Sri Lanka, hoping to build on this historic summer for women’s cricket, at a ground on which they have only tasted defeat once since 2017!
