Ben Bloom to speak at Derbyshire Cricket Society

Ben Bloom, the respected freelance journalist and writer, will speak at the Derbyshire Cricket Society at The County Ground on Thursday 31 October.

Ben will talk about the precarious state of county cricket. Global franchise leagues and cash shortages are but two of the threats posed to the survival of the English county game.

Ben’s views are shaped by interviews with more than 100 key figures in cricket including our own Ryan Duckett. The book outlining this research will be available for purchase.

He asks what do we expect from the English county game? Who does it primarily exist for and where is it going in the future?

This promises to be a fascinating talk with relevance for all Derbyshire CCC supporters.

12:00 noon for 12:30pm, usual finish is by 3.00pm, coffee / tea served 1.30, talks start 1.45 followed by questions.

VENUE:  Members’ Pavilion, The County Ground, Nottingham Road, Derby. DE21 6DA. Lunch costs £28 with additional £3 if Cheese and Biscuits requested instead of dessert.

To book e mail or text by 16 October at the latest – [email protected] or mobile 07581 700877.
