Seamers sign new deals

Derbyshire seamers, Ben Aitchison and Nick Potts, have signed contract extensions with the Club.

Aitchison, 26, has penned a new two-year deal, while Pathway graduate, Potts, has extended his stay at The Central Co-op County Ground until the end of the 2026 season.

Since joining Derbyshire in 2020, Aitchison has picked up 78 first-class wickets, with best figures of 6-28. The fast bowler endured an injury-hit period between 2023-24 but has gone on to play in all formats for Derbyshire in the 2025 campaign. He also claimed only the second T20 five-wicket haul in Derbyshire history, with 5-29 against Yorkshire in July.

Potts, 23, has featured in T20 and List A cricket this season, claiming his 50-over best figures of 3-72 against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham last week.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “We’re pleased to have Ben and Nick in our ranks, both players bring different qualities to our bowling attack and depth in that department is key for us.

“They’ve each had the opportunity to perform across multiple formats this season and have shown their ability to adapt and improve, that’s really pleasing for us, as it shows real development.

“Both players embody the work-rate and determination that we want in our squad, and we know the ability they possess.”
