All-rounder, Alex Thomson, will leave Derbyshire upon the expiration of his contract.
Thomson, 31, joined Derbyshire in 2021 and played 82 all-format games for the Club, in which he picked up 135 wickets and scored four half-centuries.
A popular figure among Members and teammates alike, Thomson’s best figures for Derbyshire came in the 2024 County Championship fixture against Glamorgan at Cardiff, when he claimed 7-65, on his way to 12 wickets in the match.
In total, the tall off-spinner took five wickets in an innings four times for Derbyshire, while he was a near-constant thorn in Yorkshire’s side at Queen’s Park, playing a role with the ball in three-consecutive Falcons wins in Chesterfield.
Everyone at Derbyshire County Cricket Club thanks Alex for his efforts during his time with us and wish him the best for the future.
In a message to supporters, Alex said: “Derbyshire County Cricket Club will always be a special club to me. As I leave the club after four seasons, I’d like to express my thanks to the coaching staff, my teammates and the loyal supporters for being a part of living out my childhood dream. Although I’m disappointed to be leaving, I leave with fond memories and I’m excited for what life holds next. All the best, Grizz.”
