Fast bowler, Zak Chappell, has signed a new contract with Derbyshire, keeping him with the Club until the end of the 2028 season.
Since joining Derbyshire in 2023, Chappell has claimed 170 all format wickets, including three first-class five-wicket hauls.
He holds the Club record for T20 wickets in a single season, having taken 26 Vitality Blast dismissals in the 2023 campaign.
The seamer was ever-present in Derbyshire’s Rothesay County Championship team which narrowly missed out on promotion 2025, and follows Martin Andersson, Nick Potts, Ben Aitchison, Joe Hawkins and Yousaf Bin Naeem in committing his future to the Club this winter.
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Zak has become a key player for us in all formats, he’s a versatile bowler who can fill a variety of roles within our attack and always gives maximum effort. He’s also worked hard on his batting to become an effective member of our lineup, with some crucial knocks over the last couple of years.
“We’re shaping our squad for 2026 and retaining our best players has been a key part of that process. We’re working hard to add to the squad and provide the finishing touches, but we can be confident in the experienced core we have.”
Chappell added: “Over the last three seasons, I’ve been able to develop my game and I feel like I’m starting to show what I can do as part of a strong bowling unit.
“My time with Derbyshire so far has allowed me to prove that I can play consistently and perform in the big moments. We’re all excited for next summer and what we could achieve, we have the squad to compete and now we need to show what we can do.”
