Derbyshire Batter, Wayne Madsen, has been appointed as Italy Captain for their upcoming ICC T20 World Cup campaign.
Madsen, who is Derbyshire’s Club Captain, will lead Italy in their historic first appearance at an ICC World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, where they will face England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Nepal in the group stages.
Madsen has made four T20I appearances for Italy, with a high-score of 67, while he’s also been a consistent run-scorer in List A fixtures for ‘The Azzuri’. He is aiming Derbyshire’s all-time leading run-scorers and widely-regarded as a legend of the county game and now he will show off his incredible array of ramps, sweeps and scoops off on the world stage throughout February and March 2026.
