Winter Recruitment

It’s been a busy winter, as Mickey Arthur and Jon Dyson finalise their squads and coaching teams for the 2026 season.

Derbyshire Men have added Pakistan’s County Championship-winning seamer, Mohammad Abbas, and England spinner, Shoaib Bashir to their ranks. Abbas has claimed more than 860 first-class wickets in his career and will also be joined at The Central Co-op County Ground by Matt Montgomery, who signs from Nottinghamshire.

After scoring more runs in county cricket than any other batter in 2025, Caleb Jewell has re-signed for the 2026 season, while Nye Donald and Martin Andersson are among those
to have penned multi-year contract extensions with the Club.

For the Vitality Blast, Arthur has added two mystery spinners to the squad, with Sufyan Moqim signing for the first six games, before Mohammad Ghazanfar arrives for his
second stint with the Falcons.

Derbyshire Falcons Women have added nine new players to their ranks after a historic 2025 campaign, as they look to challenge for silverware across both white ball formats.

Lara Shaw, Maria Andrews and Ellie Nightingale return on-loan, while several more players have made the move from Tier One counties, hoping to make their mark with the Falcons.

After a trophy-laden career in county cricket, Chris Wright joins the Derbyshire Men coaching staff as Assistant Coach – Bowling Lead, while 2012 Promotion-winning opener, Paul Borrington, will be working with the Falcons Women squad this summer.
