Ireland have qualified for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, after coming through an intense tournament in Nepal.
All three international sides who will play at The Central Co-op County Ground in 2026 have now qualified for the competition, with hosts, England, and defending champions, New Zealand, already set to compete for the trophy.
Having already progressed from the group stage, Ireland performed strongly against Scotland, Netherlands and Thailand to secure their place at the showpiece global T20 event, which will be held in England throughout June and July.
Ireland have several players who will be familiar to supporters of English counties, with Orla Prendergast having starred for The Blaze last summer and Gaby Lewis, who scored a century for Lancashire in the 2025 Metro Bank One-Day Cup final to guide her side to silverware.
Derby will be one of the warm-up venues for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, continuing the Club’s and Derbyshire Cricket Foundation’s long commitment to supporting and growing the women & girl’s game at all levels.
It’s set to be a huge summer of international cricket in Derby, as England Women will face New Zealand in IT20 action on Wednesday 20 May, before taking on Ireland in a Metro Bank One-Day International on Thursday 3 September.
Demand for tickets is at an all-time high, with the Early Bird Window still open and a huge winter of women’s cricket around the globe to come and the ICC T20 World Cup also set to take place on English soil next summer.
