The season starts this Friday!

The 2026 season begins this Friday with the return of the Rothesay County Championship and this summer promises to be a big one for Derbyshire.

The men’s team have added 2025 County Championship winners, Mohammad Abbas and Matt Montgomery, as well as England spinner, Shoaib Bashir, to their ranks for the coming summer. Caleb Jewell, who scored more runs in county cricket than any other batter last season, also returns from Australia.

Having missed out on promotion by just five points lin 2025, Mickey Arthur and captain Wayne Madsen will be hoping these new additions can be the difference in their quest to reach Division One. New T20 skipper, Aneurin Donald, will also be looking to build on an excellent showing with the bat last summer and lead the Falcons Men to Finals Day.

Jon Dyson has been busy strengthening the Falcons Women squad over the winter, with nine new additions arriving to bolster a settled core. Adrianna Darlow again leads the side, while last season’s Batter of the Year, Lara Shaw, returns from The Blaze.

The County Championship season gets underway this Friday, with the visit of Worcestershire to The Central Co-op County Ground, while the Falcons Women begin their campaign at home to Middlesex on Sunday 12 April.

Tickets are on sale now for all fixtures at Derby and Chesterfield. Further ticket information about the fixture against Glamorgan at Repton School will be communicated in due course.
