Experience one the most popular events in the entire county cricket calendar, as Derbyshire Falcons Men host Yorkshire at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.
The fixture, which has been played in front of a capacity crown on each of the last seven occasions, will see Nye Donald’s Falcons go head-to-head with a star-studded Yorkshire lineup, as Derbyshire go in search of a ninth-consecutuve T20 win under the iconic crooked spire.
But why is this fixture so popular? Here, we list some of the reasons you don’t want to miss out on a trip to Chesterfield this summer!
Unparalleled drama and record-breaking moments:
The traditional final fixture of the BRM Chesterfield Festival of Cricket has seen plenty of scarcely believable moments over the years, from multiple huge last-over run-chases, to a history-making innings.
In 2018, Matt Critchley and Billy Godleman smashed Tim Bresnan’s final over all around Queen’s Park to claim victory and the pair would repeat the trick a year later, securing a last-gasp win.
In 2022, Leus du Plooy inked his name in Chesterfield folklore, when a shortened game went right down to the wire. Needing 19 to win from the final over, it seemed the Falcons’ winning streak was hanging in the balance, before the stylish left-hander smashed three huge sixes into the crowd to silence the travelling fans.
Just last summer, Nye Donald created his own piece of history, as he equalled the Vitality Blast record for the fastest half-century, taking just 13 balls to reach the milestone and setting the Falcons up for a huge win, as they chased down 201 in front of a packed house.
