New Zealand claim series win over South Africa

Posted on 5 April 2026
New Zealand v South Africa: 3rd ODI

New Zealand Women defeated South Africa in their final series before travelling to face England this summer.

The White Ferns claimed victory in both the IT20 and ODI series, with captain Melie Kerr continuing her fine start to life as skipper with a century in each format, while Maddy Green secured a win in the final game of the tour with a stunning 141 from 128 balls.

Kerr has now made three international scores of 100 or more since being named captain in February and will arrive in Derby as arguably the world’s most in-form batter on Wednesday 20 May, as the T20 World Cup holders take on England.

Legendary all-rounder, Sophie Devine, was the leading wicket-taker across the five IT20s (9), she is likely to be in action at Derby next month as New Zealand gear up to defend their crown this summer.

New Zealand face England at The Central Co-op County Ground next month, with Nat Sciver-Brunt, Lauren Bell and co set to take on Kerr’s White Ferns in IT20 action at Derby.
