Derbyshire have named a 14-player squad for the Rothesay County Championship game against Lancashire, starting tomorrow at Emirates Old Trafford (11am).

Martin Andersson enjoyed a stellar start to the season against Worcestershire, scoring a double-hundred and taking three wickets as Derbyshire drew at The Central Co-op County Ground, while Harry Came, Caleb Jewell, Luis Reece and Anuj Dal all impressed with the bat.

England spinner, Shoaib Bashir, struck in both innings of the opening round and will be hoping to add to his tally in Manchester, as will Muhammad Abbas, who is 14 wickets away from 1,000 in all formats.

Club Captain Wayne Madsen has returned to training but will miss this fixture, with a view to making his return against Gloucestershire at The Central Co-op County Ground on Friday 24 April. Came will continue to lead the side in Madsen’s absence.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, will also miss the game as he has travelled to Australia for his daughter’s wedding.

The Opposition

Lancashire were left frustrated in their opening game of the season, as Northamptonshire batted out the final day to claim an unlikely draw.

Captain Sir James Anderson rolled back the years in the opening round, claiming eight wickets in the game (5-66 in the first innings), while the evergreen Tom Bailey also impressed with the ball.

Luke Wells, Michael Jones and Josh Bohannon were all in the runs at Northampton and the batting lineup will be bolstered by the return of Australian opener, Marcus Harris.
