Thomson joined Derbyshire in 2021, and signed a new deal in 2023 keeping him at the Club for two more seasons.
A tall off-spinner capable of hard-hitting down the order, Thomson claimed a remarkable 12 wickets at Cardiff at the beginning of 2024, the best match return by a Derbyshire spinner since Geoff Miller took 12 against Leicestershire at Coalville in 1982.
Thomson also claimed three Yorkshire Vikings scalps in an over at Queen’s Park, going on to pick up the Player of the Match.
