Masood called up to Pakistan Test squad

Shan Masood has been named in the Pakistan squad for their Test series against Australia next month.

The left-handed opener has been in fine form across all formats, scoring 502 runs at an average of 71.71 in the red ball Quaid-E-Azam Trophy and 275 runs from five innings in the Pakistan Super League.

Pakistan will welcome Australia to the country for the first time in almost 25 years, and Masood will be aiming to make a statement by add to his four Test centuries during the three-Test series.

The series begins at Rawalpindi on Friday 4 March and concludes on Friday 25 March, with Masood expected to join up with the Derbyshire squad prior to the opening LV= County Championship fixture against Middlesex at Lord’s, starting on Thursday 7 April.

Suranga Lakmal will also be in Test action later this month, with the fast bowler set to lead Sri Lanka’s attack for the final time in a two-Test series against India, starting later this month.

Updates on both players’ progress will be posted on the official Club channels throughout February and March.
