Leus du Plooy says he and George Scrimshaw were proud to to go the The Hundred as Derbyshire players and believes the pair gave a good account of themselves on and off the field.
Each player featured in four games for Welsh Fire, du Plooy scoring 90 runs to become their fourth-highest run-scorer and Scrimshaw claiming the notable wickets of Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali.
Batter Wayne Madsen has also been an ever-present for Manchester Originals, showing off his vast array of innovative sweeps and ramps on a regular basis.
All three players will be available for Derbyshire’s LV= County Championship against Durham, starting on Monday at 10.30am, as Mickey Arthur’s side continue their push for a place in the top two.
Having returned to Derbyshire following the conclusion of Welsh Fire’s campaign, du Plooy reflected on his Hundred campaign and hopes he and Scrimshaw represented the Club well while away.
“There’s always plenty of examples of players who are doing the right things day in, day out,” he said.
“But the thing for me was that myself and Scrimmy represented Derbyshire over there. I think we showed the guys there how to act on and off the field with how we carried ourselves and how we want to play our cricket.
“That was quite a proud moment for me, a lot of our guys at Derbyshire are starting to get more respect and this is only the beginning.”
