As the 2023 domestic season draws closer, Derbyshire Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, provides a comprehensive update on matters at the Club, on and off the field.

It has been a productive off-season for the Club, with the signings of experienced LV= County Championship Division One players, Zak Chappell and Matt Lamb, as well as Pakistan international batter, Haider Ali, providing quality additions to the playing squad, while the Conference and Events team enjoyed a busy Christmas period, re-enforcing that The Incora County Ground is a 365-day-a-year venue.

Ahead of an exciting 2023 campaign, Duckett spoke at length about all areas of the Club and the ambitions for the future.

If you had told me in March 2020 that we would come through the pandemic financially, I would have taken that. We made some really tough decisions to get us through, we had a lot of fantastic support from Members, sponsors, the ECB and we utilised the government support available to us.

However, during that period, our cricket wasn’t anywhere near where we wanted it to be, so while we were in a good place financially, I think everyone would agree that our cricket wasn’t in great shape.

“Thankfully, we showed some positive improvements in 2022, with the appointment of Mickey and the application of what was essentially the same squad. There were brilliant individual perofrmances throughout the season and it was pleasing to see that progress.
