Lamb hits half-century to kick-start pre-season

Matt Lamb hit an unbeaten 60 as Derbyshire got their pre-season fixture schedule underway on Day One against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Lamb, who joined the side from Warwickshire over the winter, struck nine fours and two sixes as Derbyshire posted a total of 203-4 from 60 overs, before Zak Chappell dismissed Ben Slater (28) to leave Nottinghamshire 52-1 at the close of play.

Derbyshire made a bright start to their innings through Billy Godleman, who smashed 48 from just 37 balls, while Luis Reece (36), Brooke Guest (25) and Harry Came (25 not out) all got valuable time in the middle.

Suranga Lakmal almost picked up a wicket when his first delivery flew off Slater’s outside edge, but it fell just short of first slip, but Chappell had the former Derbyshire man’s number when he had the batter caught well by Guest.

Rain brought an end to the day an hour early, with Nottinghamshire trailing by 151 ahead of Day Two.
