The Hundred Watch: Derbyshire contingent get started

Derbyshire’s contingent of players and coaches at The Hundred got the 2023 edition of the competiton underway at Trent Bridge. 

Assistant Coach (Bowling Lead), Ajmal Shahzad, and Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, James Bell, are working with Trent Rockets, while Batting Consultant, Ian Bell, will be returning to familiar surroundings at Edgbaston with Birmingham Phoenix.

Leus du Plooy started the competition with Southern Brave, top-scoring with 29, but he could not guide his new side home, as Trent Rockets claimed victory in the opening game.

Wayne Madsen and George Scrimshaw go head-to-head at Emirates Old Trafford this evening, while Zak Chappell could make his Oval Invincibles debut against London Spirit at Lord’s tonight.

A host of England Women’s stars will be in action throughout August, as they prepare for this next month’s Vitality IT20 series against Sri Lanka, with the potentially deciding third game taking place at the Incora County Ground on Wednesday 6 September.

Derbyshire’s-own Sarah Glenn will turn out for London Spirit, while the likes of Sophie Ecclestone and Nat Sciver-Brunt will be aiming to fire their teams to victory.
