Derbyshire Abroad: Another tournament win for Amir, runs for batters and duo set to head overseas

Over the winter, multiple Derbyshire players will be representing various clubs across the globe. With most underway with their seasons so far, we take a look at how the players have been getting on over the past couple of weeks.

Mohammad Amir

The left-arm seamer backed up his Abu Dhabi T10 tournament success with another trophy win in America. His side were victorious in the 15th edition of the 2023 US Open cricket, with Amir claiming four wickets across the tournament.

Amir now heads to Texas, where he will be playing in the American Premier League over the next month.

Harry Came

Opening batter Came kicked off his club season at Claremont CC with 77, before registering 11 in a low-scoring two-wicket victory over Cape Town CC last weekend.

Claremont currently sit fourth in the table, as they aim to defend their title from last year.

Sam Conners

The seamer has been in good form with the bat of late, posting a half-century a couple of weeks ago alongside one wicket, unfortunately in a losing effort.

In a low-scoring encounter at the weekend, which resulted in a tie, Conners bowled an economical spell before hitting a quickfire 14 with the bat.

Samit Patel

The all-rounder was also playing in the 2023 US Open, where the spinner claimed six wickets across the tournament at an average of 11 and an economy rate of 6. His side were knocked out in the quarter-final stages of the competition.

Like Amir, Patel will also be a part of the upcoming American Premier League.

Mitch Wagstaff

Wagstaff continues to represent Rockingham Mandurah in first grade cricket in Western Australia. The left-hander has just under 200 runs for the season so far, and has also been able to work and develop his part-time leg spin bowling, taking two wickets so far in the campaign.

Pat Brown and Aneurin Donald

New recruits Brown and Donald head to will head to Adelaide and Cape Town respectively, where they will play club cricket in the New Year.

Donald re-joins Rondebosch Cricket Club where he spent last winter and he will be hoping to replicate one of his brilliant knocks like he did last season, where Donald plundered 159 off 47 balls, including 28 boundaries.

Seamer Brown will head to Adelaide to join up with a new side, having spent last winter over in South Africa.
