England Women and Pakistan Women secure series wins

England Women & Pakistan Women have stepped up their preparation for next year’s Metro Bank One-Day International at The Incora County Ground, with 2-1 series wins over India and New Zealand respectiveley.

After a historic 2023, England Women will return to The Incora County Ground on Thursday 23 May 2024, when they face Pakistan in the first home Metro Bank One Day International of the year.

England defeated India in each of their opening two encounters, with Danni Wyatt (75) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (77) leading the way with the bat during the first IT20, before England’s bowlers took centre stage in the second game.

Derbyshire Women spinner, Sarah Glenn, and Sophie Ecclestone each claimed 2-13, as India were dismissed for just 80, as England took an unasailable lead with a four-wicket win.

Pakistan made history with their 2-1 win over the White Fearns, which was their first IT20 series victory in New Zealand, and saw the likes of Muneeba Ali and Fatima Sana lay their claims for a place in the lineup at Derby in May 2024.

Sana claimed 3-18 in the opening game of the series, a seven-wicket win for Pakistan in which Shawaal Zulfiqar top-scored with 41, and captain Nida Dar added 23 from just 14 deliveries.

The visitors clinched the series with a game to spare, as Muneeba (35) and Aliya Riaz (32 not out) helped Pakistan to post a total of 137-6, before the bowlers restricted New Zealand to 127-7, with Sana again taking three wickets.
