From the Big Bash to the Blast: Caleb Jewell

Derbyshire Falcons batter, Caleb Jewell, reflects on his first experience of the Vitality Blast last summer, how the competition compares to the Big Bash in Australia and looks ahead to this summer’s T20s. 

Jewell, a Big Bash winner in his native Australia, joined the Falcons for the 2025 season and settled in quickly by scoring more runs in county cricket than any other batter last summer. He has returned to Derbyshire for the 2026 season, where he will be a key player for Mickey Arthur’s men.

Having played T20 cricket on both sides of the globe, Jewell gives his verdict on how the Vitality Blast compares to the Big Bash, what he enjoys most about playing in England, and his love of local derbies and looking forward to returning to Queen’s Park, Chesterfield.
