Falcons Women batter, Tash Allen, spoke to Club Media after scoring the first fifty of Derbyshire’s T20 County Cup campaign in 2026.

The opener guided The Falcons to a seven-wicket victory over Cumbria, to book their place in the next round of the competition.

Speaking on her match-winning, 44-ball fifty, she said, “it felt so good. I’ve not been making the first team squad as much as I’d like to recently so hopefully this pushes back in my favour.

“It’s been really nice to be back in the team and it’s my first season where I’ve been really challenged for a place in the squad, so to have my chance and be able to take it and get the team over the line is the best feeling in the world.”

Allen was also full of confidence in her side to progress further in the competition. She said, “I’m really confident in us this year. This is a similar feeling to when we won [ECB County Championship T20 Cup] in 2024, so hopefully we can keep that going and get all the way to the end.”

Head of Women’s Cricket, Jon Dyson, added, “Tash trains as well as anyone, if not harder, and it’s been a difficult decision to have left her out of the One-Day Cup squads.

“We’ve had some long conversations, but in the cup, she’s waited for her opportunity, and she showed some real glimpses in the first round. Then, today, t’s really pleasing to see her bat the way she did.

“It gives me a real selection dilemma, going into the double-header this weekend.”
