Knowling-Davies reflects on maiden Falcons five-wicket haul

Derbyshire bowler Rhiannon Knowling-Davies spoke to Club Media after becoming the first Derbyshire Falcons Women player to take a five-wicket haul in the Metro-Bank One-Day Cup.

The right-arm seamer finished with figures of 36 runs for five wickets from her 10 overs, including one maiden.

Speaking on her five-fer, she said: “It’s pretty special – it hasn’t really sunk in yet.

“Those are my best figures for Derbyshire and it came at quite a good time in the game.

“I’ve been working on quite a specific plan and it’s nice to see it coming off.”

Head of Women’s Cricket, Jon Dyson, was delighted with his player’s performance. He added: “I’m really pleased for her. She trains hard, works hard and she’s really committed.

“She’s got a slightly different role this year, bowling in the middle overs to create pressure with dot balls, so it was nice to see that pay off.”

Reflecting on the side’s overall performance, he said: “Again there’s loads of positives following on from last weekend.

“We restricted Glamorgan to 238 and there was a clear plan from the bowlers – backed up by outstanding work in the field.”

Looking ahead towards The Falcons’ next fixture against Cumbria in the Vitality Blast T20 Cup, Dyson said: “We’ll change slightly so some new faces will come into the squad.

“We’ll look to build on the momentum we created in round one and we look forward to it.”
