On Friday 15 May, Derbyshire Cricket Foundation (DCF) proudly welcomed partners, stakeholders, and friends to the Central Co-op County Ground to mark a significant milestone in our journey, the launch of our new strategy, “A Game For Everyone” (2026-2030).
The event brought together voices from across the game and the community, celebrating both the progress we have made and the ambitious vision that will guide our work over the next four years.
“A Game For Everyone” is more than a strategy it is a commitment to ensuring cricket in Derbyshire is truly accessible, inclusive, and impactful for all.
At its heart, the strategy is driven by a clear purpose: to Empower Communities and Improve Lives through cricket.
It is underpinned by a bold vision: to provide every person in Derbyshire with the opportunity to have a positive experience through the game.
And a powerful mission: to inspire a generation to say that ‘cricket is a game for me.’
“This is an incredibly exciting time for the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation. This strategy sets a clear direction for the future and reinforces our commitment to making cricket more accessible, more inclusive, and more impactful than ever before. It’s not just about growing the game, it’s about ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to feel part of it.”
The event was also a celebration of the incredible progress made across Derbyshire in recent years. Despite significant challenges from the pandemic to the cost-of-living crisis participation in cricket has grown, with more people playing more formats of the game than ever before.
From the expansion of women’s and girls’ cricket to innovative programmes such as Street Cricket, Walking Cricket, and Table Cricket, DCF has continued to widen access and reach new communities across the county.
Attendees heard directly from programme participants, including members of the DCF Youth Council and individuals involved in health and wellbeing initiatives, bringing to life the real-world impact cricket is having across Derbyshire.
Looking ahead, DCF’s ambition is clear: to make cricket the most inclusive team sport by 2030.
To achieve this, the strategy focuses on key objectives including growing the women’s and girls’ game, engaging diverse communities, supporting inclusive clubs, increasing access for young people, and improving health and wellbeing through cricket.
These priorities are supported by vital enabling work, including improving facilities, strengthening the volunteer workforce, and building sustainable partnerships.
The launch event showcased several exciting programmes that will play a key role in delivering the strategy, including the Falcons Leadership Academy, the Play-On Fund, and the Friends of the Foundation initiative.
These programmes highlight the essential role of partnerships in delivering impact and creating meaningful opportunities across communities.
The success of the strategy launch event reinforced one important message: delivering this ambition will require collaboration.
DCF is proud to work alongside a strong network of clubs, schools, charities, community organisations, and partners to improve lives through cricket.
Together, we will continue to build a game that welcomes everyone, inspires future generations, breaks down barriers, strengthens communities, and creates lasting opportunities.
The launch of “A Game For Everyone” marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for cricket in Derbyshire.
With a clear vision, ambitious goals, and the continued support of our partners and communities, we are confident in our ability to make a lasting difference.
Together, we will make cricket a game for everyone.
