Pre-Match Pack: Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women (H)

Derbyshire Falcons Women have named a 12-player squad to take on Northamptonshire Steelbacks Women in the third round of the Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup at Denby C.C. starting tomorrow (2:30pm scheduled start).

Head of Women’s Cricket Jon Dyson has made two changes to the matchday squad following last weekend’s defeat to The Steelbacks in last weekend’s Vitality Blast clash.

Top order batters Tash Allen and Emily Hughes come back into the side in place of Jess Couser and the cup-tied Rebecca Duckworth.

Allen put on an unbeaten 58* to see us to victory in the previous round of the competition, against Cumbria Women.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Lauren Kenvyn keeps her place in the squad, after hitting 52* and 46* in each of her last two games for The Falcons.

The Opposition:

The Steelbacks defeated Derbyshire by six wickets last time out in the Vitality Blast.

Northamptonshire booked their place in the third round of the competition after cruising to an eight-wicket victory over Bedfordshire & Huntingdonshire Women – captain Gemma Marriot top scored with an unbeaten 28*, after restricting the Tier 3 side to 56-8.

The winner of tomorrow’s fixture will progress to the quarter-finals, with the chance of being drawn against Tier 1 opposition.
