England maintained their 100% start to the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with a four-wicket victory over Ireland at Southampton.
Having won the toss, England were accurate with the ball and sharp in the field. Spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean combined for five wickets at the expense of just 33 runs, as Ireland were restricted to 118-9.
Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scored for with 48, but was forced to retire out before reaching her half-century due to a calf issue, having missed England’s pre-tournament series against New Zealand and India through injury.
Ireland are next in action this Friday, when they take on defending champions New Zealand, before England face Scotland at Headingley on Saturday.
